The St. Joseph’s Day celebration started in Sicily centuries ago, during a drought. The Farmers prayed to St. Joseph, and they received much-needed rain.
Since then, miracles of healing and bounty have been experienced by Catholics all over the world who showed their gratitude on St. Joseph’s day, with Altars of crops & food to honor St. Joseph as the head of the Holy Family.
This year, we are creating a “St. Joseph’s Altar” in the front area of the church. (Front; on the side of the baptismal font). All the families of the St. Julie’s community are invited to participate by bringing food items to Mass to place on the altar as a symbol of our gratitude for the blessings we have received, and to “pay it forward”. The donated foods will be given to the food bank to help feed the hungry in our surrounding community.
Father will bless the food donations, which will be welcomed at all 5 Masses on Mar.14 & 15.
We honor the needs of the St.Vincent De Paul Society by bringing needed non-perishable items such as:
You can arrive early to Mass and place the item near the altar or place them in a basket in the back of the church.
Children Can Participate By Food Donations and Drawing or Coloring
Children may be encouraged to draw or color pictures of St. Joseph to bring up to the altar with the Family’s donation. There links on this page to free printable coloring pages.
We know St. Julie’s Community will continue to receive God’s blessings through the graces of this tradition!
