Lent is a 40 day period of fasting, prayer/reflection and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday. It is a time of preparation for the celebration of the Ressurection, Easter. During Lent the baptized renew their commitment to their baptismal promises while participants of the RCIA prepare for their baptism.
