Pope Francis has invited Catholics throughout the world to strengthen the Church as a community. The Holy Father calls it “synodality,” which means making our way forward together.
Pope Francis has extended this invitation to consider “synodality” through Archbishop José Gomez. He is consulting Los Angeles Catholics this month in preparation for a meeting of the world’s bishops at the Vatican in 2023. The archbishop asks how we want to move forward as a Church, so he can report our thinking to Pope Francis.
St. Julie’s Church wants to speak up on this topic. Parishioners can participate in a “listening session” on Saturday morning, March 26, 2022, in the parish hall from 9:00 to 12:00.
The aim is to recognize how our parish is a community already and how we can strengthen our community. Parishioners will hear about the upcoming meeting of bishops and share their thoughts about the future of the Church.
St. Julie’s will submit a summary of the listening session to the archdiocese. Summaries from local parishes will be compiled into a single report to Archbishop Gomez, who will bring it to the Vatican.
