Children’s Liturgy of the Word is a worship experience designed for children in grades K-5. It mirrors the worship experience of the larger community, with a style that is engaging and interactive. It is not religious education, but rather an extension of the Sunday Mass.
All children in grades K-5 are invited.
No registration required.
During the 10:00 am Mass, the children are invited by the presider to follow the prayer leader to the children’s liturgy chapel, where they listen to the Sunday readings in words they can understand. After talking together and/or participating in an activity encouraging them to apply God’s Word in their own lives, they rejoin the congregation in the church following the creed. Celebrating the Liturgy of the Word in this way helps the children become comfortable with hearing and discussing Scripture and familiarizes them with their Catholic liturgical heritage.
