MEXICO MISSION TRIP 2023
Our parish’s spring break mission trips began in the year 2000, when we took a small group of high school students and chaperones to Tijuana, Mexico, to build a house for a family in great need. This experience developed into a 24-year project that has helped transform our community as well as providing shelter to 102 families in need. Through the years we have taken over 1,700 missionaries down to Mexico and look forward to many more years of service.
The houses we build are simple structures that provide a refuge for families living in dirt-floor huts with leaky roofs and no doors or windows or tents. Each house is an 11’x22’, two-room house with a slab floor, stucco-finished exterior, two windows, and a door.
All the construction is done without power tools, so by the end of the week our young missionaries will have built a house with their own hands. They will have hand-sawed each piece of lumber, hammered every nail, and mixed every tub of cement by themselves. We camp at a secure campground in eastern Tijuana.
This year’s St. Julie’s Parish Mexico Mission trip is from April 10 through April 15, 2023
