Today, as we mark the Feast Day of Blessed Carlo Acutis on October 12th, we are reminded of his profound love for the Eucharist. A beacon of faith for the youth, Carlo’s life, although short-lived, was testament to the transformative power of the Eucharist. He famously said, “The Eucharist is the highway to heaven,” emphasizing its central role in leading us closer to God.
In honor of Blessed Carlo Acutis, Saint Julie Billiart Religous Education Department in Newbury Park, CA has organized a special blessing for our First Communicants. This heartwarming ceremony will take place during the 9:30 am Holy Mass on Sunday, October 15. As these young souls prepare to receive the Sacrament of their First Holy Eucharist, let us come together to pray for them. As Jesus welcomed children, emphasizing their purity and sincerity, we must similarly encourage these young communicants to walk in faith, with the Eucharist as their guiding light.
In an act of unity and community spirit, our First Communicants will distribute bookmarks adorned with their names. This gesture serves as a humble request for parishioners to include them in their prayers during this pivotal time of spiritual preparation. Let the bookmarks and the special blessing of today be a reminder to offer a prayer for that child and all the children of our First Communion Program to ask the Lord to bless them as they prepare to receive the Holy Eucharist.
Join us in this journey of faith and celebration at our beloved Saint Julie Billiart Catholic Church, as we honor the legacy of Blessed Carlo Acutis and support the spiritual journey of our young First Communicants.
